How I Controlled My Colestrol Levels With Oats

 Hello there,  TrudyVan here

How I Controlled My Colestrol Levels With Oats

After eating Oatmeal for Breakfast the last two months and my colestrol levels going down from a whopping 10.1 (Walking timebomb my doctor called me) to 5.5 without additional medication. I would personally put Oats in the category of Herbal Foods and Remedies because value it has for our health on the whole.

What is Oats? and What is as oatmeal or rolled oats?

Oatmeal really can only be beneficial for your health in more than just helping to control colestrol levels but giving your body additional fibre it needs as well.

Oats (Avena sativa) is cereal grain grown for its seed which is rolled or crushed into oatmeal,
and also ground into fine oat flour. Our Main Oats provider in South Africa is "Jungle Oats", elsewhere also "Quaker Oats".

Oatmeal is mainly eaten as a porridge but also used in baking and Oats can be eaten Raw and cooked.

Oats was discoverd to contain healthy beta-glucans which has cholesterol-lowering properties.

Oats have more more soluble fiber than some of the other grain and that keeps you feeling full for longer and it is therefore excellent for people that have to watch their diets.

Oat contain the globulin or legume like protein, Avenalin.  Oat Proteins is almost the same in quality to meat, egg protein and milk Oats are eaten by people in the form of rolled oats, oatmeal, oat milk, oat bran and oat flour. They are also used to brew certain types of beer, such as oatmeal stout and used for certain skincare products

They have an extremely hard outer shell which is called a hull that is removed. After the hull is removed, you get what is called oat groat.  These groats are then treated with heat to prevent them from spoiling.  They are then cut into pieces and you are now able to eat it. They call this steel-cut oats. The Steel cut oats are made into flakes and steamed to form rolled oats

They mill the rolled oats to make oat bran and they will ground the rolled oats to make oat flour.  You also get Oat milk.  This is made when they soak ground oats in water.  You then get Oats extract. They create Oats extract by boiling the oat flour and water and then spin it dry.

Oats is a clean source of proteins, Vitamin E, iron, fibre, calcium, some of your Vitamin B1, B2, B6, Niacin (vit B3), Folic Acid (vit B9), Biotin, zink, magnesium, phosphorus, ,

Oats helps to lower cholestrol and are extremely low in fat.

Oats contain antioxidants which reduce the risk of some Cardiovascular Diseases

Oatmeal is the most healthest meal you can and should eat on a daily basis.

How Oats Helped Me

How Oats Helped Me

I started eating Oatmeal just over a month ago and my colestrol levels have dropped from 10.2 to 5.5.  It was on advise from a friend.  I believe that eating oatmeal everyday could help fight certain types of cancer as well.

I have my glass of milk, my oatmeal with honey and I do not add sugar or anything else to it, plus my banana in the mornings for breakfast.  All natural wholesome breakfast that keeps your blood sugar stable and you will have energy to last the morning.

Honey also helps with your body desensitize the body against Pollen and helps you with hayfever.

How To cook Oatmeal

I place 4 tablespoons of dry oatmeal into a bowl and add a little hot water to it.  I let it stand for about 2 mins. I stir the oatmeal and then place in the microwave on the high setting for 1.5 mins.

You need to watch your oatmeal as it rises in the bowl, open up the door and give it a stir until it reaches a creamy cooked stage.  It must not be dry or too watery.  You might want to experiment to get it to the consistency that you like.

Add honey to flovour and a little milk and there you have your Oatmeal cooked and ready to eat.

How to store Oatmeal

Store your oatmeal is airtight containers in a cool place.  I store mine in the refrigerator.

Hello there Joyce F, Thank you for commenting and asking a question.

Yes, Steel Cut Oats is also known by the following names, coarse-cut oats, pinhead oats and Irish oats.

It also takes longer to cook and has a slightly different flavour when cooked.

Glad you asked and thank you once again for popping by
